Ethan tragically died last week, shortly after he’d been struck by Ruby Fox-Miligan’s car in a hit-and-run revenge attack.
Ruby has been struggling with her conscience ever since Ethan’s death, especially after her son Nicky discovered what she’d done.
Thursday’s (June 13) instalment on ITV1 and streaming service ITVX took place against the backdrop of Ethan’s funeral, as his father Charles faced his crisis of faith.
Charles was shocked to see Ruby turning up alongside him at the church to comfort the vicar, with Ruby later admitting to Caleb she nearly confessed to Charles at that moment.
Caleb was desperate to stop his wife from coming clean, though she didn’t get the chance to admit her misdeed because Charles received news about Ethan’s cause of death.
The vicar explained that Ethan had died from an undiagnosed aneurysm, not from the after-effects of the hit-and-run crash as Ruby had feared.
Caleb and Ruby toasted to the news, with their son Nicky quickly growing disgusted by the way his parents were treating Ethan’s death.
“For once, I thought you’d do the right thing,” Nicky told his mother.
Ruby attempted to mediate between her husband and son, but tempers flared as Caleb lunged at Nicky to punch him.
“[Mum] is weak, weak and pathetic just like I was when you were pimping me out,” Nicky angrily shouted at his father.
Nicky then announced he was done with his parents – he never wants to speak to either of them again!
This rift within the Miligan family comes amid reports that Nicky actor Lewis Cope and co-star Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana (Suni Sharma) will be leaving Emmerdale shortly.Meanwhile, Charles struggled in the face of grief following his son’s burial. As Manpreet tried to connect with her partner, a drunk Charles rejected her and asked her to leave him alone.
