This year’s Inside Soap Award nominations include nods for Emmerdale’s Tom and Belle coercive control story and EastEnders’ cover-up for The Six.
The 2024 ceremony will take place in London in September, with fan voting officially opening on all of the major categories from Tuesday (July 16) at noon at Inside Soap.
The coveted Best Storyline category includes nominations for some of the most hard-hitting scenes of the year, including the mystery over Lauren Bolton’s disappearance in Coronation Street.
Corrie’s issue-based story around Paul Foreman’s motor neurone disease (MND) diagnosis and subsequent life changes has also been nominated for Best Storyline.
Hollyoaks has been recognised in the category for the heartbreaking scenes of Leela Lomax and Joel Dexter’s baby loss, in addition to the sibling sexual abuse story involving Frankie and JJ Osborne.
The Best Storyline nominations for EastEnders are for The Six covering up the murder of Keanu Taylor, plus George Knight discovering the truth about his adoption.
Emmerdale’s pair of Best Storyline nods are for Tom and Belle’s ongoing coercive control plot, as well as Rhona’s court battle for baby Ivy.
The Best Daytime Soap category features nods for Doctors, Home and Away and Neighbours, while the primetime Best Soap category sees Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks nominated for the award.
One new category is for Best Pet, where David the dog (Coronation Street), Freddie the dog (Coronation Street), Jasper the parrot (EastEnders), Tyson the dog (EastEnders), Ice the horse (Emmerdale), and Piper the dog (Emmerdale) are all up.
“Over 90,000 soap fans vote each year in The Inside Soap Awards,” Inside Soap magazine editor Gary Gillatt said in a statement. “They remain, after three decades, the only accolades of their kind to be awarded based solely on the votes of viewers – there’s no ‘expert juries’ taking charge here.
