Emmerdale star Sam Hall has shared a goodbye message following the on-screen exit of his character Samson Dingle.
Samson was sentenced to four years in prison during Tuesday’s (August 6) episode, after he was caught attacking his former friend Josh Cope.
It would later be revealed that Samson’s rival Noah Dingle saw the attack and called the police as revenge for Samson trying to blackmail him last year.
Following the airing of Tuesday’s ITV1 instalment, Emmerdale posted a message from cast member Sam Hall saying farewell to viewers.
He took over the role of Sam Dingle’s son in 2009 after three child actors had previously played the part. In more recent years, the soap has shown a dark side of the formerly loveable character.
His exit story saw Samson trying to frame Matty Barton for a stabbing at the Hide when he knew his mate Josh had set the whole thing up
Samson eventually came clean about the lies but found himself in even more legal trouble following his fight with Josh.
There were rumours Samson would be killed off in some comeuppance for his lies, but Sam confirmed in May that the door was left open for him to return.
“Don’t worry, as he’s definitely not being killed off!” he told Inside Soap. “There are some good stories coming up for him, and I was very excited when I read the scripts.”
