Earlier this week, Cain (played by Jeff Hordley) was shocked to learn that his wife Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) had ‘kissed’ her stepson Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter). In scenes from last week, Moira tried to kiss Nate, who firmly rejected her and chastised her for her actions.

However, in typical soap opera fashion, Caleb Milligan (Will Ash) saw the ‘kiss’ and informed an enraged Cain. Long-time viewers will remember that the pair previously had an affair when Nate first arrived in the village, putting Moira’s marriage to Cain at risk.

Cain was furious as he confronted Nate and assaulted him in shocking scenes on Monday, where he disowned his son despite his emotional denial of any wrongdoing. Meanwhile, later in the episode, things took a turn for the worse when Ruby Fox-Milligan (Beth Cordingly) arrived to taunt Moira, reports the Express.

However, her attitude changed when Moira didn’t react to her taunts. A stressed Moira then accidentally spilled tractor fuel in the barn, where Ruby’s voice began to blend with that of Emma Barton, Moira’s old enemy who she killed back in 2017. A confused Moira then pointed her shotgun at a terrified Ruby, seeing Emma instead of her.

The situation escalated when Moira fired a warning shot into the air, causing Ruby to panic as the bullet hit a light bulb and sparks flew. A struggle for the shotgun ended with Moira knocking Ruby unconscious with a blow to the head. When Moira finally regained consciousness, she was left confused by the events that had unfolded.

In gripping scenes, the spark ignited the spilled tractor fuel, rapidly turning into a fire as Moira stood frozen next to Ruby’s body. Moira’s recent erratic behaviour, memory lapses and violent outbursts have been raising eyebrows among viewers.

In scenes last week before the fire, Moira attacked Ruby mistakenly thinking she was having an affair with her husband Cain after an innocent chat. Despite agreeing to have blood tests to find out the cause of her behaviour, last week’s episodes showed that Moira had completely forgotten about her medical appointment, leading to a frustrated Cain storming off.

Reacting to recent scenes on social media, viewers were quick to criticise Cain for not noticing that Moira is clearly behaving unusually amid the ‘kiss’ with Nate. Fans also questioned why he would side with his brother Caleb, known for his scheming ways and even had an affair with Nate’s estranged wife Tracy (Amy Walsh) earlier this year.
