New scenes airing next week will see Kim kidnapped as part of the ongoing blackmail ordeal, with Will targeted by a mystery assailant who has threatened to reveal his cheating with ex-wife Rose Jackson if he doesn’t pay up.

As the blackmailer ups the price to £50,000, Will returns home expecting lunch only to find Kim missing. Dean explained that his character gets suspicious as it’s “very unusual for her to disappear for no reason especially when she knows Will’s hungry”.

After getting a call confirming his fears, Will is “up the creek”, Dean adding: “He doesn’t really know what to do. He gets very panicky about it all. He’s basically at the end of his tether and will do anything to make this problem go away.”

Things get even eerier when he’s forced to follow signs and voices in the woods, the star explaining: “He’s getting notes and directions from a voice in the woods, that he can’t fathom out where this voice is coming from or why. He’s just gone into a random woods, he’s hearing all kinds of voices, he gets really panicky.

“He’s got the money, in his bag, he’s got the fifty grand, he doesn’t know what’s going to happen when he finds… he just keeps to somebody saying, ‘I’ve got the money, just come out, stop messing about, stop all this stupidity just come and get the money and leave me alone.'”

Dean admitted that Will has “a few” people he suspects of being the blackmailer, including Caleb and Cain, though truly “doesn’t actually know’ who he’s being targeted by.

“He just thinks it’s somebody in the village. I don’t think there’s any clues as to who it could be. He thinks about Cain and Caleb, people he’s had run-ins in the past with.”

Opening up about filming the scenes, Dean added: “I love that kind of physicality stuff. The fights and the running, the scared and the panicky. They’re always good to play.”
