Emmerdale’s Beth Cordingly supported by fans after announcement

The actor, who plays Ruby Fox-Miligan in the soap, posted a short video of herself and her pet cat to her Instagram account, which she captioned, “Bye bye for a little while” alongside some heart and flower emojis.

“Hi guys, we’re having a bit of time away from social media, aren’t we?” she said, addressing her cat. After joking that she was “doing that thing again when I talk to the cat”, she added, “Sending you all love – see you on the other side”.

After she blew a kiss to the camera, her cat let out a meow – after which Cordingly asked if he had anything else to say and added, “He did it when I turned it off!”

The actor’s fans were quick to share their support for Cordingly, who didn’t give a reason for her decision to take a break from social media.

“Oh no, hope you are OK? Always be you. Don’t let anyone suppressant [sic] that. Your happiness is so important, don’t let others p*ss on it. Take care lovely x”, one of her followers commented, while another wrote, “Oh Beth , I will miss your reels they really keep me upbeat , I look forward to your return ..”

Another fan wrote, “So cute. Don’t stop talking to the cat please!” and another said, “Hope you’re ok, I will miss you, you always make me laugh. Look forward to seeing you again xxx”.

Cordingly, who first appeared as Ruby early this year, has previously opened up about her relationship with fellow actor Ian Kelsey, who played a major role in Emmerdale himself during the mid 1990s as Kim Tate’s lover, Dave Glover.

“I am very in love with Ian and very happy. I think it really does work him being an actor too,” she said, explaining that her partner was “really supportive” of her joining Emmerdale.

The actor has also addressed the mixed fan reactions to her feisty character, revealing that her own family think Ruby is “pretty awful”.

“After the dinner party scene where Ruby got drunk and was horrible to everybody, my dad was very concerned I’d get trolled,” she said. “I don’t really look at social media… Everyone is entitled to their opinion.”
