Emmerdale fans work out legend’s ‘replacement’ as major couple set to hit the rocks

Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) could soon have her head turned by Ross Barton (Michael Parr) in Emmerdale, spelling trouble for her husband Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb).

It was announced last week that Michael would be reprising his role as bad boy Ross after a six-year absence, originally playing him from 2013 to 2018.

In a video shared on social media, Bradley Johnson – who plays Vinny Dingle – was seen strolling around Emmerdale’s production hub in Leeds looking for the returnee.

Throughout his time in the Dales, Ross was front and centre in a number of hard hitting storylines, including affairs, heists and a shocking acid attack.

He also had an affair with Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb), who was engaged to his brother Pete (Anthony Quinlan). Her dad Cain (Jeff Hordley) soon found out and told her that he had fathered her half-brother Moses.

Moses’ paternity was later revealed at Pete’s stag do, with Charity agreeing to put Ross on the birth certificate.

Producer Laura Shaw teased: ‘Ross makes a huge impact from the first moment he arrives back on screen, immediately throwing some of our villagers’ lives into disarray.

‘Chaotic, wild and reckless, Ross is absolutely going to shake up the village and prove it’s never quiet with a Barton boy back in town.’

He could also drive a wedge between Charity and Mack, who have already had a turbulent year after she stabbed him during a night terror.

Mack’s gone on to be attacked by a bull, and be caught up in the devastating fire at Butler’s Farm.
