In *EastEnders*, a significant casting announcement has been made: Teddy Mitchell’s ex-wife, Nia, is set to make her debut, portrayed by Laura Doddington, known for her roles in *Doctors*, *Hollyoaks*, and *The Midwich Cuckoos*. Nia is set to storm into Walford uninvited later this autumn, shocking Teddy, who is trying to maintain harmony with his family. Laura described Nia as a complex character, comparing her arrival to a “Tasmanian devil.” She’s unapologetically herself, and Laura feels grateful to have the Mitchell family actors embracing her as part of their on-screen family.
Dame Maureen Lipman, also at the Inside Soap Awards, spoke about her upcoming break from *Coronation Street*. She reassured fans that the door is open for her return, stating she won’t be killed off or dramatically written out. Instead, she’ll step back, leaving the door ajar for a future comeback, as she expressed her attachment to her character, Evelyn.

However, she teased that the truth about Tom’s actions will eventually come to light, and it remains to be seen how Vinnie’s situation will unfold.
