Tuesday’s (August 27) episode followed up on story strands that have seen Moira acting out of character, including falling out with her son Matty and husband Cain.

While Matty suspected that Moira might be having some medical issues, Cain wa more concerned with the state of his marriage after seeing Moira and Nate having a drink.

Viewers will remember that Moira had an affair with Cain’s long-lost son several years ago, but the family have managed to rebuild their relationship more recently.

When Cain confronted Moira about her drinking in the latest episode, she responded flippantly by saying he was just jealous because there was “another strapping lad” on the farm in John Sugden.

“[John] can’t beat Nate’s strength though. His muscles trump the lot of you,” Moira quipped.

Cain warned Moira that they were at risk of losing a supplier, so she needed to sort out her drinking. On the farm, Moira complained to Nate about Cain commenting on her drinking.

“I’m sick of these accusations,” she said.

Moira eventually landed the contract with her supplier and went to celebrate with a drink alongside Nate. Cain was not at all impressed to see the pair having a tipple in the middle of the day.

“Me and Nate are celebrating, the dynamic duo,” she told a disgusted Cain.

Nate was extremely uncomfortable as Moira bragged about how they made an impressive pair, before making an excuse to leave.

Later, Nate approached Cain to explain that Moira had been “acting weird” towards him lately and he wasn’t sure why. Cain demanded to know whether something was going on between them.

“I want to know and I want to know now,” he insisted.

Nate swore nothing was happening between him and Moira, vowing: “I’d never hurt you again. I swear. We’ve worked hard to get where we are. Things are good between us. Why would I ruin that?”

While Cain accepted Nate’s explanation, he was still unsure of how to get through to Moira. Nate begged Cain not to give up on Moira as he’d done with his marriage to Tracy.

The soap then cut away to Moira tending to the new bull Nate sourced for their customer. Moira went to exit the barn when she suddenly collapsed to the ground in a seizure.
