Emmerdale confirms new relationship for evil Tom King

Emmerdale will reveal that abusive Tom King is in a new relationship next week, as his ex Belle is horrified to discover that one of her neighbours could be in danger.

Belle has finally escaped from her marriage to Tom after months of him abusing and coercively controlling her, but sadly Tom has continued to manipulate Belle by secretly spying on her and even pretending that her dog, Piper, has been killed.

Belle has recently been to the police about Tom’s abuse, asking if she can use Clare’s Law to make a disclosure about Tom and try to protect any future partners he may have.

In scenes that will air next week, Belle receives an email and is distraught to find out that there will be no disclosure following her Clare’s Law application.

Nasty Tom, meanwhile, is watching on through his secret cameras and he revels in Belle’s disappointment.

Tom later makes a coded comment, which makes horrified Belle realise that he knows about her Clare’s Law email. When Tom then reminds her that he has access to some photos of her that he could release, Belle is shocked into silence.

Belle goes to access the photos herself, but hits a hurdle when she discovers that the password has been changed. She soon comes up with a plan and she steals Tom’s tablet, turning the situation to her advantage.

Belle then heads to the Woolpack to confront Tom, but will anyone believe what she has to say?

While the argument unfolds, Amelia Spencer inadvertently lets slip that she and Tom are now in the early stages of a relationship, revealing that they’ve been seeing each other for a couple of weeks.

Belle and Lydia Dingle are both shocked to discover the news, with Belle fearing for young mum Amelia’s safety after everything that Tom has put her through.

When Tom later lets himself into Belle’s home with his key, Belle orders Tom to leave Amelia alone. But will Tom listen, and could Amelia soon be facing the same ordeal that Belle has?

These scenes will lead up to a special Belle-centric episode airing next Thursday (September 5), which will take an ‘alternate realities’ format.

After Tom announces to Belle that he will never let her go, Belle enters a dreamlike day where she sees three potential futures that she may experience.

“If one person seeks help for a situation they are in because of seeing Belle’s plight it will be an achievement,” Emmerdale producer Sophie Roper said. “Domestic abuse can be undetectable from outside a relationship and hopefully the scenes of Belle and then Amelia’s relationships, though difficult viewing at times, may shine a light on some aspects of domestic abuse.”
