Emmerdale fans spot major blunder as Moira and Cain trapped in dramatic barn fire

Emmerdale viewers were left scratching their heads as they watched Mackenzie Boyd and John Sugden try and fail to break down the barn door to save Moira Dingle and Ruby Fox-Miligan

Emmerdale viewers were gobsmacked as they spotted a massive gaffe during the show’s explosive barn fire drama.

The soap was set ablaze with tension this week as Moira Dingle, played by Natalie J. Robb, inadvertently started a catastrophic blaze in one of her barns, putting several fan-favourite characters in jeopardy.

Disaster struck when Moira’s increasingly erratic behaviour led to an accidental fire, trapping Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) amid the flames. In a haunting hallucination of Emma Barton (Gillian Kearney), Moira fired her gun into the air, igniting the tractor fuel spilt below and starting the inferno.

Ruby, who attempted to wrestle the firearm from Moira, was rendered unconscious in the chaos. Confused Moira, waking from her daze to the horror of a fierce fire, desperately tried to rouse Ruby

As plumes of smoke billowed from the structure, Moira’s brother Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb), labouring away in an adjacent field, realised the peril and hared across on his quad bike, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Upon arriving at the scene, John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) also stumbled upon the emergency. Although they couldn’t breach the barn, John instructed Mack to summon help and contact their kin while he heroically fought to force the door open and rescue Moira and Ruby.

Nevertheless, eagle-eyed fans pointed out that Mackenzie could’ve simply bulldozed the barn door using his quad. On X, previously known as Twitter, one baffled viewer vented: “Drive the quad through the wooden door, you idiots.”

Another viewer chimed in with a tactical query: “Why don’t they ram the barn door with the van or quad.” Meanwhile, someone else suggested: “Why don’t they use the quad bike? ? Drive at it?”

The episode’s climax saw Cain dive into the inferno to rescue Moira, only to find themselves trapped. As they scrambled for an exit, a massive blast knocked them off their feet. With Moira and Cain still inside when the barn blew up, fans are left fearing the worst could this be the end for the pair?
