Emmerdale ‘history making’ episode finally ‘exposes’ Tom King after Belle abuse

Emmerdale fans are convinced Tom King’s abuse of Belle Dingle is about to be exposed by one villager after a special episode of the soap focusing on the domestic abuse

Emmerdale aired a special hour-long episode on Thursday (September 5) that centred around Belle King and the domestic abuse she’s been enduring from her husband Tom King.

Belle, portrayed by Eden Taylor Draper, has been subjected to months of physical and emotional abuse from her controlling and manipulative husband Tom (James Chase), who seems relentless in his torment.

The episode picked up from Tom threatening Belle, vowing he will never let her go. His words trigger a dream-like day for Belle, as she envisions potential outcomes of her future life if she tries to escape Tom.

The narrative follows a disoriented Belle leaving her house, with each scenario she encounters unfolding within the Emmerdale village.

Three distinct plots see Belle outsmart Tom before she is trapped in her abusive marriage, Cain Dingle violently attacks Tom resulting in Belle being sectioned, and finally, Bel

When reality sets back in, Belle leaves her home and rushes to Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) to bravely confess her abuse. Emmerdale viewers applauded the ITV soap for highlighting domestic abuse through Belle’s imagination and her confession to Charity.

Emmerdale’s Tom has got fans on Twitter and Facebook in a right tizz, with loads predicting he’ll be banged up soon as Charity gets set to blow the whistle on his abuse. One switched-on viewer tweeted: “Hope charity tells Belle to start recording conversations with Tom, it is the start of his downfall… #Emmerdale.”

Another fan chimed in with: “Let this FINALLY be the downfall of Tom. Charity to the rescue! I was confused at first but that was actually a really powerful episode #Emmerdale.” A third supporter expressed: “So proud of Belle confiding in Charity. Here’s hoping this is the start of Tom’s downfall #Emmerdale.”

But some viewers are biting their nails, fretting that the epic ending might just be a figment of Belle’s imagination, and Tom could wriggle out of facing the music.

One Facebook user vented: “It’s stupid, how are you supposed to know what bits are the reality and what bits are the vision? Is it all visions from the part when he grabbed her back at the cottage?”

Another puzzled fan asked: “How come Charity believes her now when she hasn’t up to now? Unless this is still a dream?” And yet another viewer pondered: “Has Belle really told charity about the abuse or is that another dream future she’s dreamt?”
