The actor, who made her debut as Ella Forster earlier this year, took to Instagram to inform fans that she won’t be leaving the Yorkshire Dales anytime soon as she has renewed her contract.
Lane shared a behind-the-scenes photo of her character sporting a bruised face and hospital gown, captioning it: “Oh Ella…whatever next?! I can confirm a new contract signed today for moi.”
She added: “Very happy to be calling @emmerdale my second home for the next chapter.”
Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle, was quick to share her excitement in the post’s comments section, writing: “Amen to THIS”.
Ella is currently trying to move on from her dark past in an ongoing storyline, having previously been locked away for many years after murdering her friend when she was a child.
This revelation ruined her relationship with Liam Cavanagh, but things go from bad to worse this week upon Ella’s return to the village when Liam discovers that she is pregnant with his child.
Liam shuns Ella and demands a paternity test, before jumping to the conclusion that she has lied about her pregnancy when the doctor fails to find a foetus during her scan.
But spoilers suggest that there is more to this than meets the eye.
Jonny McPherson, who plays Liam, previously teased the complicated future of their relationship after Liam was left “utterly betrayed and very upset” after discovering Ella’s past.
“I think this relationship is now almost definitely cooked! I mean, never say never, but I would say it’s almost definitely it. I don’t think there is any coming back from it,” he said.
