The feud between Jai Sharma and Laurel Thomas will worsen on Emmerdale as the drama intensifies.

The married couple recently separated after a string of arguments, with one leaving Laurel in hospital after she suffered a heart attack.

Despite agreeing to go their separate ways, the pair have still clashed around the village, and next week’s scenes will be no different as the fallout continues.

The developments begin as Laurel has a catch-up with Nicola as she confides her feelings regarding the breakup, whilst Jai is fuming that she mentioned solicitors for a divorce on the anniversary of his father’s passing.

Matters intensify at The Hide, where Jai rebuffs Laurel’s offer to work on an alternate shift pattern so they avoid each other, with Jai continuing to make things difficult.

His bad mood affects his relationship with the customers as he lashes out, with other residents in the village noting his demeanour as he thinks that Laurel will be tenacious in divorce proceedings.

Will Jai be able to calm his temperament for the sake of his own health as well as others around him, or will he continue to be embittered?

The tense storyline was recently explained by Charlotte Bellamy, who has played Laurel since 2002, with the actor saying there was “no way back” for the pair.

“I don’t think there’s any way back for them as a couple now, sadly,” she said. “She is sticking to her guns without a doubt. Also, she thinks about the goodness of Ashley, her late husband, and how no one will ever compare to him. He was sort of saintly, whereas Jai is a rotter!

“Her heart attack made her recalibrate her life and see things for what they are. That coincided with finding out what Jai did with Amit and taking the shares in the business and all of that, she’s seen her husband for what he is. Laurel has a second chance at life, does she really want to be with a man like that?”
